*About the Facilitator
Erin Gardiner is a First Nations CPA and founder of a boutique consulting firm that delivers practical financial guidance and fractional executive services to Indigenous communities.
Raised on a farm near Battleford, Saskatchewan and later in Smithers, BC – near Witset, her mother’s home community – Erin learned early that hard work wasn’t optional; it was a virtue. From farm chores to bagging pellets at a mill, driving a forklift, and working Subway shifts in high school and again in Calgary, she built her career from the ground up.
Her first attempts at post-secondary didn’t go as planned, but she pivoted – teaching English in rural Japan for a year and working in industrial settings to fund her travels. That experience reshaped her path. Erin returned to Canada with renewed focus, earned her BBA in Accounting in 2010, and pursued the CPA designation, writing the UFE in 2012.
She articled at both a Big Four and mid-sized firm, then launched into challenging industry roles in public oil & gas and a fast-paced, private equity backed power startup. Her final in-house role – as Chief Financial Officer of a large First Nation – was transformative, shifting her entire career trajectory.
Today, Erin brings that expertise home. Her firm provides First Nations communities with the on-the-ground leadership, financial acumen, and operational clarity they’ve long been denied due to limited resources, remote locations, and inadequate funding. Her work bridges governance, finance and technology in a hands-on, educational way – fostering growth, accountability, and hope for a stronger future for First Nations people.
