For Richard Wuttunee, starting RYP Mechanical was an opportunity to combine years of industry experience with a vision of building something of his own. A Red Seal-certified steamfitter/pipefitter, plumber, and gasfitter, Richard spent more than a decade working in industrial settings before expanding his expertise into residential and commercial plumbing and gas services. With a strong technical foundation and a commitment to quality workmanship, he launched RYP Mechanical to provide reliable mechanical services while creating a business that reflects his values and dedication to his customers.
Like many entrepreneurs, Richard quickly discovered that building a successful business requires more than technical expertise. It also requires connections, visibility, and confidence in navigating the challenges that come with growth.
Through the SOAR Indigenous Entrepreneurship Competition, Richard gained access to valuable resources, new business connections, and opportunities to raise awareness of RYP Mechanical within the Saskatoon business community. Winning first place in the competition provided not only funding, but also increased credibility and exposure that helped support the company’s continued growth.

Today, RYP Mechanical continues to serve residential and commercial clients across Saskatchewan, offering plumbing, gas fitting, pipe fitting, heating, and mechanical services backed by years of hands-on experience.
For Richard, entrepreneurship is about more than building a business. It’s about creating opportunities, delivering quality work, and contributing to the communities he serves.
